while digging up pictures for the icon, I ran into this which made me snerk. first of all, the title of said toy sounds like a bad PWP title, and secondly because lego!draco looks so pissed off, and buckbeak looks so pleased.
*squick*
It wasn't the trainwreck I thought it was going to be. The movie rushed through the chain of events too quickly to really fuck up too bad. I was glad to see that agamemnon stole briseis before there was any time for the fake romance, although they did try to jam it in at the end, which was more than a little questionable.
I was pleased to see Patroclos wearing the shell necklace that Thetis gave to Achilles at the beginning, and Achilles taking it back when he was killed. the fake!achilles scene was done very well, as was pretty much every scene with patroclos in. they made him achilles' cousin or some shit, but feh, slash still present. it's so good to talk about slash that really is canon for once.
I loved the Aeneas cameo, that was brilliant. It made up for the fact they they killed off agamemnon immediately, rather than give the satisfaction to Clytemnestra. Menelaos also inexplicably dies, and Helen escapes.
The achilles' heel thing was well-handled, because Paris shot him in the heel, but then killed him with other stuff, which made sense. now, if only they had explained about the heel at ANY point in the movie...but they did nail his lust for glory right on the head, and his pride.
not bad, all in all, I at no point wanted to weep for Homer's sake, although I did cringe occasionally.
the rat has evidently forgotten that he hated me earlier because of his bath and is chilling very affectionately on my shoulder. Or perhaps my shoulder is just the best vantage point for him to sniff the air from the window.
